Probiotics

Does anyone here take probiotics?

I've had a bit of a stomach bug and yesterday my stomach was seriously bloated to the point that it hurt, and I had only had water. A friend recommended probiotics might help to get my stomach back to normal. Can anyone recommend a good probiotic? Thank you in advance

I have not taken them before, but I am considering it so I would love to hear what others have to say about them. I seem to constantly have at least a mild touch of a stomach bug all of the time lately and I was wondering if they would help.

You can usually find probiotic supplements in the same aisle as laxatives. That's one route. I've asked my doctor if I could just eat more yogurt, and she said that was an option. Sometimes you can find probiotic shakes, but I've only ever had luck finding them in specialty stores.

I went through a stage where my doctors were trying to cure an illness I had and gave me different types of antibiotics for several weeks. I lost loads of weight as effectively my digestive system slowed. I was told to take Acidophilus which is a probiotic recommended to the elderly and people who have used various meds for a while. Can get it lot of places in tablet form but i tend to order online. Great for Christmas Day if you overindulge. Personally i love natural live yogurt. Even those little drinks made from that Swedish guys poop bacteria are supposed to be good. Been loads of research on the health benefits especially on things like repairing liver functionality. Read a great article in New Scientist about them helping ex alcoholics using daily probiotics.
