Do you use a calorie counter to figure out how many calories you need in a day?

I use a calorie counter to estimate the amount of calories I should be getting that are specific to my current weight and height. Do you do the same or do you set your own limits?

I'm just curious to know how other people do it.

I tend to decide myself as I think a lot of the calorie counters estimate too low.

I've downloaded the MyFitnessPal app. It takes your height, weight, exercise and how much you want to lose - not only that but what you eat and gives you a target calorie count

I also use MyFitnessPal to estimate my caloric needs. I think wearing a monitor all day might actually give me a more accurate number, but I don't have one yet so I have to rely on online calculator.
